2019 is the second year that Moonshiner’s Ball will take place at the beautiful private concert venue Rockcastle Riverside. The venue is located in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, about 75 minutes south of Lexington.
Please do NOT use the default iPhone Maps app to guide you to the venue!
It CONSISTENTLY leads people to the wrong place, even when you plug in the address directly.
Rockcastle Riverside is VERY easy to get to if you follow these directions.
If you’re traveling from Lexington / Louisville / Cincinnati, you’ll be taking I-75 South.
From 1-75, take Exit 49 (909/ US 25 / Livingston)
Take a LEFT off the exit, onto 909-N
909 will dead end after just under a mile – take a LEFT onto 25-N
After about a mile on 25-N, you will see a business called Rockcastle Trading Company on your right. Take a LEFT here onto 1329. (This is our road!)
After about 5 miles down 1329, the venue will be on your left. You will know you are getting close when you pass Rockcastle River Cabins.
We’ve generally had luck with GoogleMaps and with Waze, but cell service isn’t super reliable in this neck of the woods – please make sure you screenshot these directions and follow them!
This year, we are excited to open the gates at 4pm on THURSDAY, Oct. 10th to all weekend pass holders, for an extra night of fun! Plan to come early to set up camp, and enjoy a bit of music starting at 8 p.m.
Daily gate hours are as follows:
Thursday, Oct. 10: 4 p.m.- midnight
Friday, Oct. 11: 9 a.m. – 1 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 12: 9 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Sunday, Oct. 13: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Venue closes at 6 p.m. on Sunday, so please plan to pack out by then! We miss you already!)
Tent camping is included in the price of all full-weekend passes; please note that day pass holders are NOT permitted to camp. On-site Car Camping and RV Passes are sold out for 2019, but we will be offering a VERY limited number of “Backwoods Car Camping” spots, located directly across the street from the venue in a newly cleared plot of land called Turkey Trace. Backwoods Car Camping spots will be $25 per car, first come first serve and only available at the front gate. Click here to learn more about camping at the Moonshiner’s Ball.
OK, so this is a silly question. Of course there will be alcohol. There will not be alcohol FOR SALE, however. Alcohol cannot and will not be sold at the festival venue. Rockcastle County is completely dry. Therefore, it is critical that you bring with you whatever you want to drink. Having said that, it won’t be long before you run into smiling regulars offering you sips from the jar. We’d be happy to feed you and keep you in your cups with choice beverages all weekend for an additional fee.

Food trucks will be on site serving ridiculously gourmet food. We take pride in having the state’s finest food trucks out at Moonshiner’s every year. You are also more than welcome to bring in a loaded cooler and prepare your own food. No one will be searching your vehicle. We’d be happy to feed you and keep you in your cups with choice beverages all weekend for an additional fee. Click here for details on how to purchase the “Friends With Benefits” add-on.
Dogs are not allowed. You will be turned away if you attempt to enter the festival with your canine. I know it’s a bummer, but there are legitimate reasons behind it.
Individual campfires are only allowed in above-ground devices, like grills or portable fire pits. No ground fires are permitted. There will be a glorious bonfire raging at night for everyone to enjoy.
Yes. The gate price will be higher, however, than the online ticket price. Also, there is a distinct possibility the festival will sell out. For these reasons, we recommend you buy in advance if at all possible.
We take credit cards at the front gate and at the merchandise table, but you will probably need cash for food and band merchandise. There is not an ATM on the farm. Bring plenty of cash.
