LEXINGTON, KY — Like his contemporaries Chris Thile and Abigail Washburn, Sollee’s music is difficult to pin down. Following a performance at the Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series, the New York Times remarked how Sollee’s “…meticulous, fluent arrangements continually morphed from one thing to another. Appalachian mountain music gave way to the blues, and one song was appended with a fragment from a Bach cello suite, beautifully played.” At year two of the Moonshiner’s Ball, Ben sat in on virtually every set. He camped and played round-the-bases dodgeball with the kids in Family Camping. He even ran sound at one point when our team was battling technical difficulties on another stage. He’s a true champion of music and the causes he believes in and the pride of the Commonwealth. We couldn’t be more excited to have him back!
